Settmour Swamp is a local chapter of
the Society
for Creative Anachronism, a group whose members research and
re-create aspects of the Renaissance and Middle Ages.

The Barony, located within the SCA's East Kingdom, covers northern-central New Jersey: Somerset, Morris, Essex, Union, Warren, Hunterdon, and northern Middlesex counties. Within the barony, there are three sub-groups:
- Canton of Gryphonwald
- northern Middlesex county
- Canton of Marwick
- Union County and the towns of Warren, Watchung, and Bound Brook
- Region of Tir Mynydd
- the Warren / Hunterdon / Morris county area
