Come one, come all, to Settmour Swamp for this year's Mudthaw, to witness the investiture of our next Baron and Baroness, Sir Teric of Gwynedd and Mistress Paigan Crawford!

The event will take place on the lovely grounds of the New Brunswick Elks Lodge, located on Farrington Lake in East Brunswick, NJ. Directions are on-line. The site will be open from 10 AM to 10 PM.

Mudthaw is traditionally Settmour's first event of the spring season, and a variety of activities are planned for all:

  • A Tournament of Arms (double-elimination) and additional combat in the "bearpit"
  • Tournaments for fencers, and youths
(sign up for the lists starts at 10:30 and tournaments run from 12 - 4)
  • Games, including Barter Bag, and an Alquerque Tournament
  • Brewing competition
  • Dance instruction
  • Shopping at many fine merchants
  • Pleasant socializing
  • East Kingdom order meetings - Silver Crescents at 10:30 am, Manches at 11:30, Tygers Combattant and Chivalry after the tournaments end.
There will be contests for Best Costume and for Best Table Settings; use of the baronial colors (green, white, and black) is encouraged! Our new Baron and Baroness will recognize and reward those they deem the most impressive. Please bring your personal banners to adorn the hall, as well.

Their Majesties Lucan and Yana will hold court, as will the newly installed Baron and Baroness.  A lunch dayboard will be available, and a grand feast will be served in the evening, followed by dancing.

The feast will be prepared by Schmuel ben Yisrael; and he is planning quite a special menu. In honor of our new Baron and Baroness (and to show our respect to Their Majesties) the people of Europe will lavish them with gifts of food -- from the Byzantine: Avgolemeno soup, from the French: feats of Charcuterie, from Italy: Risotto ala Milanese, from Russia: Salmon and grain pie, from England: Chicken with ale -- all to be accompanied by side dishes and bread. Subtleties will be presented for dessert. Please let the autocrats know about any dietary concerns before the event.

There is a bar on site for the purchase of alcohol; you may bring your own homemade brews and wines. Please respect the wishes of the site and keep these discreet.

Court is scheduled for 5 pm, with the feast to begin at 7 pm, and dancing at 9 pm.

The feast is currently sold out, names are being put on a waiting list.
